HARVEY ALLAN RYDER

RYDER, HARVEY ALLAN - passed away March 31, 2009 at Henderson Hospital in Hamilton, On. After a brief illness. Born at the Ryder homestead in Milford he was the son of the late Adolph and Doris (Kenniston) Ryder and of United Empire descent. He lived at the Ryder homestead until moving to Misssissauga, On. In 1985. He was formerly employed by the Saint John Dry dock, CFM, J. D. Irving Ltd, Fairville taxi and as a longshoreman. An avid sportsman, he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and golf where he was the winner of many trophies and tournaments. Harvey was a jovial man who loved laughter, his friends and had a generous spirit, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was good with his hands and would try any type of woodcraft. His home on Milford Road and the lighthouse at Market Square are examples of his wood working skills. Survivors are his son Harvey Jr.(Patricia), grandchildren Nicholas and Sarah Ryder and Kimberley and Denise Patterson of Mississauga; one sister Jacqueline (Allen) Furler of Hamilton; nephew James Melanson of Toronto; niece Jane Ryder of Saint John; great-nephew Gaelen Melanson of Guelph, On. sister-in-law Ellen Ryder of Saint John. A brother Cecil and his wives, Judith (Stover) and Helen (Patterson) predeceased him. Funeral service will be held at Skinner-Middleton Funeral Home, 128 Lakeshore Drive, Port Credit, On. Saturday, April 4th at 4P.M. Interment will take place at a later date in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. No visiting at Harvey's request.
