GRANT APPLEBY TOMPKINS
TOMPKINS, GRANT APPLEBY - On May 1st, God called on Grant to come Home. A gifted carpenter, auto body repairman, painter, whatever it was Grant could take care of it and make it look new. He could always be found in one of two places working outside around the property or in his work shop where he built and refinished numerous items. Grant's love and compassion for animals has been shown over the years by the care he has given to the many dogs and cats that have graced our home, he took great joy from Rumba, his Afghan, velcro dog and Dreamer his chosen beautiful, blue merle, collie, they miss him. In recent years, his health has held him back from being able to do all that he would have liked to do like camping, taking the dogs for walks on the beach, being able to go for a walk, going for long drives and just enjoying nice leisurely evenings watching the sunset. Through it all Grant preserved and gave us all strength and the assurance that anything is possible. No matter where we look we will be reminded of his many talents, he will always be with us. Always known for his quick wit and the ability to make everyone laugh, Grant was a comfort for his family, a great source of knowledge and help on everything from cars to politics and loved it when his children called for advice. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 34 years (Junior High sweethearts) Charis, his son Jamie, daughters Sarah (Gareth) of Saint John and Kymberly (Derek) of Memramcook, his mother, Lois Lundie (who he teased incessantly), his sister Nancy (Greg), his ½ brother Howard (Mary) of Louisiana, his mother and father-in-law, David and Ellen Morehouse of Oklahoma, Jade and Jazmine, his beautiful, granddaughters, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Monday, May 04, 2009 and Tuesday, May 05, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 06, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home.
