DRAZEK, MIECZYSLAW - It is with great sadness the family of the late Mieczyslaw Drazek announce his death, which occurred unexpectedly on Thursday May 7, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August of 1950 in Szczecin, Poland to the late Wladyslawa and Jan Drazek of Szczecin, Poland. Devoted husband, son, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Mieczyslaw "Mitch" was a sailor and for the last 26 years worked as a chef on oil tankers for Ocean Services Ltd. He spent all of his working life out at sea which he loved. Besides his father Jan, he is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marianna of Saint John; his only son Pawel (wife Leah) of Markham, ON; two precious grandchildren Mila and Julia; one sister Danuta Grzywacz of Szczecin, Poland; many uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). Visitation will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home on Wednesday evening May 13, 2009 from 6 to 7p.m. Private family service will be held in Poland at a later date. The family has also requested that a priest who is travelling to Rome will say a prayer in Mieczyslaw's memory at the Vatican. Interment will take place in Poland. In lieu of flowers donations in Mieczyslaw's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.
