RILEY, JOHN G. - John G. Riley of Toronto, Ont. died peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on Feb.18, 1922, the eldest son of Thomas H. and Mary C. (McCurdy) Riley, John grew up in the South End where he attended St. John the Baptist School and graduated from St. Vincent's Boys' High School. After serving overseas in World War II, he took a business management course at the University of Toronto, and worked in the plumbing and heating industry. He is survived by two sons, John T.,Oakville and Robert M. of Toronto, one daughter Erin Younger of Vancouver, BC and four grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings James F. Riley, Catherine McNulty, Teresa Riley, Josephine Whalen and Joan O'Rourke. Predeceased by his parents, one brother Thomas J. and one sister Margaret Sherwood. Mass of Christian Burial was held May 9, 2009 at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Oakville, Ont. Following cremation, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
