MURRAY ALLISON "AL" DAVIS

DAVIS, MURRAY ALLISON "AL" - Truro, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro surrounded with love by his family and adopted family. Born in Smith Creek, NB on June 29, 1935, he was a son of the late Harry and Laura (Keith) Davis. Al moved to NS in 1958 and settled in Truro in 1966 with his leisure time spent at his camp in Wentworth. Al enjoyed a variety of business endeavors throughout his life and got great satisfaction from volunteer time spent with organizations like Boy Scouts (Camp Malagash), various roles in his local churches wherever he lived. He was also associated with Charles St. House, Rotary, Lions Club and was actively involved in the lives and interests of his children as they grew up. Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pearl G. Hawkes; children, Robert (Cynthia), Sydney, Carlee (Egon), Bible Hill, Gale (Rico), Calgary, William, Truro; grandchildren, Michael (Amanda), Shannon, Megon, Ryan, Tess (Paul), Nina, Corey, Devon; great-grandchildren, Tyra, Brandon, Tristan, Angelina, Carson; brother, Thomas (Joanne), Waterborough, NB; sister, Frances (Stuart) Smith, Kent Bridge, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Donald, Andrew, and Harold in infancy; sisters-in-law, Ardine and Dorothy. Visitation will be held Friday, May 22nd from 1 to 5 pm at the home of his daughter, Carlee, 9 Wright Avenue, Bible Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Anglican Church, Truro or to a charity of choice. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 10:30 am in Newtown Baptist Cemetery, Newtown, NB. Following the graveside service, all are invited to join us for refreshments at Sussex Select Funeral Home, Sussex, NB. On-line condolences may be made at www.colchestercommunity.com
