ALICE "MILDRED" GOWAN-LANDRY
GOWAN-LANDRY, ALICE "MILDRED" - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on May 31, 2009, Mrs. Alice "Mildred" (Harmon) Gowan-Landry, wife of Mr. Frederick "Ned" Landry of St. George NB and the late Thomas A. Gowan. Born at Digdeguash NB on December 15, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Henry E. and Lila A. (Thomas) Harmon. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Ned, she is survived by one son, Clifford (Elaine) Gowan of Old Ridge NB, two daughters; Rosaline (Bill) Stewart of Bocabec NB and Carol Gowan (Dave Williams) of Fredericton NB, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, two brothers; Leo (Janet) Harmon of St. Andrews NB and Pearson Harmon of Bocabec, three sisters; Marion McAleenan of St Goerge, Hazel (Fred) Rossi of British Columbia and Bessie Holland of Saint John NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her first husband Thomas, she was predeceased by one son, Larry Gowan, brothers; Henry, Fred and Edward and sisters; Nellie Borthwick, Freda Young and Helen Gowan. Mildred was an active member of the Bocabec United Church. She was a wonderful cook who loved knitting and being outside in the garden. For many years, she worked as a cook and housekeeper for General and Mrs. James Van Fleet. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm followed by interment at the Bocabec Community Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. In Mildred's memory, donations to the Bocabec United Church or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
