MERRILL, LEONARD ALBERT - Leonard Albert Merrill and his son Scott Andrew Merrill, both of Saint John, N.B. passed away, unexpectedly, in Springfield, Illinois on Sunday, June 7, 2009. Born on May 23, 1949, in Amherst, NS, Leonard was the son of the late Albert and Thelma (King) Merrill. Leonard worked at Universal Sales/Source Atlantic for over 34 years. He was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, member of the Lancaster Ambassador Men's Choir, and former Cub Scout Leader at Lancaster Baptist Church. He enjoyed his many cruises, his new companion "Sophie" and spending time at his trailer at Pine Cone, Sussex. Leonard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Burnett) Merrill, daughter, Krista, of Saint John; daughter-In-law, Katherine (Kate) Pendell, Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Carman (Sharon) Merrill, Amherst; sister-In-Laws, Cindy (Art) Cobham, Saint John; Linda D. (Doug) Hayes, Saint John; Catherine (Jack) Cole, Long Reach; grandson, Matthew Pendell, Phoenix Arizona; 10 nieces, nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. Leonard was predeceased by his son Scott Andrew Merrill. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The funeral service for Leonard and his Son Scott, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, from Hillcrest Baptist Church, Saint John West. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension.
