DORIS M. GALLANT

GALLANT, DORIS M. - Doris Gallant of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday June 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born 1927 in Saint John to the late Angus and Claire. Doris was an avid Bingo Player; in her earlier days she enjoyed bowling and playing darts at the legion. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #53, Ladies Auxiliary. A very devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great- great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. All that knew her will miss her terribly. Doris is survived by sons Norman Gallant (Debbie); Douglas Gallant (Debbie) and her daughter Donna Keirstead all of Saint John; grandchildren Mary Anne Cleghorn (Troy); Danny Gallant (Lynda); Tammy Reid (Duane); Dawn Marie Kohout (Trevor); Jason Keirstead (Sandra); great grandchildren; Melodi, Blaine, Logan, Cameron, Kassel, Merrik, Cody and Jayden; precious great great granddaughter Brooke; a brother John (Frances) of Saint John; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her first husband Malcolm Cook, whom passed away overseas in World War II; her second husband Oliver Gallant (1971); a son Daniel Gallant (1975); grandson Bradley Keirstead (1999); son-in-law Paul Keirstead (1996); two brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) on Thursday July 2, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Ladies Auxiliary Tribute beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
