MICHEL OUELLETTE

OUELLETTE, MICHEL - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michel Ouellette, 53, of Douglas, Arizona, who passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 30th, 2009. Born at Grand Falls in 1955, he was a son of the late Patrick C. and Lorette (Godbout) Ouellette. Michel is survived by his loving wife, Janique Smythe, his brothers Gilles (Julia) of Toronto, Jacques (Marise), Jean-Maurice, Jean-Marc (Andrée) of Grand Falls and sisters Micheline of Grand Falls, Pierrette of Rothesay, father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Georgette Smythe of Riverview, sister-in-law, Nathalie Ryder (Adam) of Fredericton, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Michel obtained his PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Alberta in 1998. He worked in Student Services at Mount Allison, University of Alberta, University of New Brunswick and most recently at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona and was passionate about cultivating student leadership. He was an avid sports fan but was most known for his running. He completed many ultra marathons. He was known as 'the runner'; no matter where he was or what the weather was, he faithfully ran every day, twice a day. He had a sweet tooth and loved chocolate, DQ milkshakes and Diet Coke. Michel was a fervent traveler, particularly in the Caribbean, and with his curiosity, sense of humour, kindness and compassion, he endeared himself to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed. The remains will be resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 am. His funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 7th at 11 am. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls, with interment in the Assumption Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.oregans.ca
