DOHERTY, PAUL DAVID - Paul David, 52, of Ringwood, New Jersey on July 6, 2009. It is with great sorrow, the family announces the sudden death of a dear husband, father and brother. Born and raised in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, Mr. Doherty moved to Buffalo, New York and has lived in Ringwood since 1991. Paul was a graduate of the New Brunswick Community College (formerly Saint John Community College). As a horseman, Paul was an owner, trainer and driver of standardbred horses. He was employed by the Ray Schnittker Stable of Goshen, New York as a trainer and was the caretaker of the 2008 Hambletonian winner, Deweycheatumnhowe. He was also the owner of the Doherty Feed Co. of East Rutherford. Paul was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association (U.S.T.A.); the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association (S.B.O.A.) of New Jersey; the Standardbred Owners Association (S.O.A.) of New York; and Standardbred Canada. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Bologna RC Church in Ringwood. Mr. Doherty was predeceased by his parents, J. Frank Doherty and A. Mary (nee Clancy) Doherty and his brother, Peter A. Doherty (June 10, 2009). Survivors include: his wife, Roxanne (nee LaPenna); two daughters, Kelly Lyn Doherty and Emily Elizabeth Doherty, both at home in Ringwood; his brothers: James Doherty (Marianne) of Clifton and William Doherty (Rita) of Ottawa, Ontario; his sisters: Mary Murphy (William), Martina Shannon (Donald), Patricia Loughery (Merrill), Anne Gilbride (Paul) and Evelyn Doherty, all of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral services will be Friday 10:15 am from the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Andrew the Apostle RC Church, 400 Mount Prospect Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair. Visiting will be Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
