GILLIS, SANDRA LEIGH - The death of Sandra Gillis of Hampton, wife of Fred Gillis occurred July 27, 2009 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, NS. She was born in Hampton, daughter of the late George and Clara (Roberts) Dixon. She worked in the Public Service for many years. She was a member of Church of the Ascension and was an avid gardener. Surviving besides her husband Fred are one daughter, Deatra Nicholson (James), Lake Egmont, NS; five step-children, Lee Gillis, Toronto, Cathy Gillis (Theo), Niagara Falls, Joyanne (Patrick), Toronto, Karen Nemetz (Heinz), Chilliwack, BC, Joe Gillis (Debbie), Toronto; two sisters, Joanne Rossiter (Clayton), Moncton, Susan Kelly (Leo), Hampton; two brothers, Carl Dixon, Hampton, David Dixon (Irene), Hampton; two grandchildren, Jesse and Kelsi Nicholson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Richard Dixon. Visitation will take place Friday, 6-9pm, at Reid's Funeral Home, (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Saturday, 2:00pm, at Church of the Ascension, Lower Norton Shore Road, Hampton with Rev. Alan Reynolds officiating. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery.
