URQUHART, FRANCES - Frances Urquhart wife of the late George Urquhart passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, NS July 28/2009 Fran was in her 85th year. Born in Saint John, NB, Fran was the daughter of the late Frank & Alice (Carson) Swain. While living in Saint John she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, a charter member of the Dr William McIntosh Chapter I.O.D.E., a past President of the Saint John Y'Menetts, a member of the Westfield Golf Club, and a charter member and past president of the Carleton Ladies Curling Club. After moving to Moncton in 1972, Fran was once again involved in sports, tennis & golf being her two favorites. She was a member of the Beaver Curling Club, the Moncton Golf Club and Pine Needles Golf Club. Fran & George spent their winters in Honolulu where they were involved in golf & tennis as members of Waialae Country Club. They were also members of the Honolulu Academy of Arts. For many years Fran was a member of the Friends of the Library of Boston University. Fran is survived by three sons, Greg Everett (Lynn) of Bedford, Ross Everett (Christy) of Dartmouth and John Everett (Darlene) of Saint John.; four grandchildren Lauren (Josh) McNutt of BC, Lynsey Everett of AB, Chris (Ashley) Everett of NS and Drew Everett of ON; a sister Kay Powell of NB and her much adored golden retriever, Betty. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Helen Boone and Peggy Brown and a brother Ted Swain. At her request there will be no viewing or service in lieu of a memorial gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Doctors & Nurses of the Victoria General for their excellent and compassionate care.
