GAUCHIE, MARY FRANCES (NEE O'HARA) - December 10, 1924 - August 3, 2009 - It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Fran on August 3, 2009. Fran was born in St. John New Brunswick, daughter of Leo O'Hara and Mary Margaret (nee White) O'Hara. Out of the 14 O'Hara children she is survived by her beloved twin sister Pauline Collins. She leaves behind her loving husband Robert (Bob) of 62 years; daughters, Lynda, Patricia (John Farquharson) and Michelle (Wakeman); grandsons Jason, Andrew (Rose), Nathan and Adam; granddaughter Diane (Roger); six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; special sister-in law Marjorie Down; brother-in law Danny Brownlow, and dear friend Pat Lautard. Fran was an extraordinary woman who devoted her life to her family providing steadfast love and support over the years. Her kindness, strong will and vivacious personality endeared her to many while her unwavering faith in God gave her immense joy and the strength to cope with the hardships and challenges she encountered. She was the light of our life. Special thanks to Dr. Rosenthal and Father William and our deepest gratitude to the nurses, doctors, counsellors and volunteers at the Victoria Hospice for their compassion and support of Fran and the family. A memorial funeral mass will be held Saturday August 8th at 10:00 am at St Joseph the Worker Parish,785 Burnside Road West, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospice or Cancer Society.
