HICKS, DONALD H. - The death of Donald H. Hicks of Ellerdale Street, and formerly of Barbara Crescent of Saint John East, husband of the late Clare C. (Grant) Hicks occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Born in Saint John in 1924, he was a son of the late William B. and Doris E. (Walker) Hicks. Don was educated in Saint John schools and was employed as the office manager of Clark Drummie and Company and later with Barry O'Neil. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a wireless operator with the RCAF. He was a member of the MTC Travelers Association. A longtime member of the LanSan Crib Club, he thoroughly enjoyed his Wednesday night games. He was an active member of the Lancaster Golden Service Club and a regular visitor with his friends at Tim Horton's. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by brother, Bruce W. of Fredericton. He is survived by one son, W. Bruce of Toronto; and one daughter, Constance (David) Wilcox of Rothesay; three grandchildren Vicki of Ottawa, Mark of Calgary, and Scott (Cecilia) of Montreal and great-granddaughter, Alexandra. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, and on Monday from 12 Noon to 2 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:30 PM from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
