GREEN, LEONARD "LEN" GORDON - The death of Mr. Leonard "Len" Gordon Green, of King George Highway, Miramichi, occurred on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 at the age of 91. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Wellington and Willa Mae (Wood) Green. Len was retired from Boise Cascade as a Steam and Recovery Superintendent. He was a WWII veteran serving with the Royal Canadian Naval from 1940-1941 and then served with the Canadian Merchant Marine Unit until 1949 as a 2nd Engineer. Len is survived by his loving friend, Alphonsine McCray; four sons, Gary of Orleans, ON; Derek (Cathleen) of Miramichi, NB; Shaun (Yvonne) of Brooks, AB; Ryan (Andrea) of Saint John, NB; one daughter: Colleen Hanscom of Kelowna, BC; three grandsons: Devin, Christopher and Conor; one sister: Evelyn Haines of Saint John, NB; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Len is predeceased by: one daughter: Lenore; five brothers and three sisters. The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 from 7 to 9 PM and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle, on Monday at 2 PM with Rev. John Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery. In Len's memory, donations may be made to the Miramichi or Saint John Regional Hospital Cardiac Unit.
