DEANNA RUSSELL

RUSSELL, DEANNA - Mrs. Deanna Nellie Russell passed away at her home in Woodwards Cove Grand Manan Island after a courageous battle with cancer Sunday, August 30, 2009. Born of the late John and Lois Brown on March 18, 1939 in Seal Cove Grand Manan Island. Deanna married her husband Bernard on December 17, 1955. Together for fifty-three years they enjoyed loving and raising their family that was very close knit. Their home always had seven or eight cars parked in the driveway, and they always had a houseful and room for more. On Saturdays everyone enjoyed Deanna's bean surprise. They took great care and pride with all of their family and spent many hours chasing the children all over to various ball games. She worked for Hovey Russell & Sons boning smoked herring. Deanna attended the Immanuel Pentecostal Assembly and served the Lord as a devoted Christian who lived by her faith every day. A true example of a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by all of us left behind. She is survived by her husband Bernard; three daughters Rhonda (Chris) Hettrick, Holly (John) Ritchie, and Jennifer (Grant) Linton; three sons Phillip (Rosemary), Blaine (Julie), and Troy (Julie) all of Grand Manan. Three sisters Edith Brown, Marilyn (Bill) Cary, both of Grand Manan, and Selinda (Murray) Ryder of Riverview, NB. Four brothers George (Betty), Johnny (Charmaine), both of Grand Manan, Sherwin (Jean) of Kingsville, ON., and Robert (Barbara) of St. Stephen, NB; twenty-three grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by one sister Leola Monroe and one granddaughter Bridgette Bailey Russell. Visiting will take place on Tuesday from the Immanual Penticostal Assembly from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the church on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Rev. David Williston officiating, and Rev. George Clark assisting. The burial will take place at the Maple Grove Cemetery. Deanna's family has requested that memorial donations may be made to the Charlotte County Cancer, or to Action Ministries. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Ells Funeral Home Inc. 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB. (506-662-3116) Condolences and messages of sympathy may also be sent to: www.ells.ca
