MAWHINNEY, EVANGELINE - It is with great sadness that the family of Evangeline Mawhinney announce her death which occurred unexpectedly in Montreal, QC on September 9th, 2009. Born on November 19th, 1935 in Saint John to the late Clarence and Annie (McGowan) Mawhinney. Evangeline was a secretary for over 37 years working for Crosby Molasses, J.D Irving, Canada Packers and the Canadian Bible Society; retiring in 1990 and was active with Avon. She was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church and Choir and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Evangeline is survived by her son, Sterling Mawhinney of Montreal, QC and daughter, Juanita Mawhinney of Saint John; several cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Evangeline was predeceased by her husband, Daryl. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations on Monday, September 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Forest Hills Baptist Church, 36 Mountain Rd. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Interment will be in Maces Bay Cemetery.
