LONG, GEORGE JAMES - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George James Long of Public Landing on September 13, 2009. He was the son of the late Elbert and Marjorie Long of Hampton. George had worked for Debley Construction, Nautilus Construction, and Day and Ross Trucking. He was a former Member of the Quispamsis Lion's Club. George enjoyed Nascar racing, bingo, hockey, and baseball. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Lois Duffus, son James (Brenda) Long, Kentville, N.S., Harold and family, West Brooklyn, NS, sisters; Margo (Steve Poitras) Long-Poitras, Norton, Dorothy Roberts, Berwick, Susan (Rus) Woodley, Saint John, Judy (Eddy) Russell, Hampton, Lynn Cripps, Saint John, brothers; Elbert (Evelyn Long, Saint John, Murray (Barb) Long, Hampton, John (Norine) Long, Saint John, Stephen "Flat" (Yvette) Long, Saint John, Gerry (Carol) Long, Saint John and Ronnie Long, of Hampton, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family members, stepsons, John (Theresa) Ellefsen, Eric Ellefsen and Van (Fanny) Romeyn and step-daughter, Christine (Mike) Titus. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) with visitation to take place on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. from "Fallsview" Chapel. Following the service, a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Interment in Hampton Rural Cemetery. Donations, in memory of George, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Romero House, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
