FORDHAM, DOUGLAS S. - It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Douglas S. Fordham of Kennbec Manor, which occurred on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his residence with his loving family by his side. Born 1928 in Saint John to the late Victor and Margaret (Perkins) Fordham. Doug worked for the City of Saint John Recreation Department for over 30 years retiring in 1993. He especially enjoyed his time as Caretaker of the Rockwood Park Children's Farm and was a member of the CUPE local 18. Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Muriel (Smith) Fordham of Kennebec Manor; one daughter, Bonnie Fordham and one son, Bill Fordham both of Saint John; three sisters, Josephine Greer and Dolly Scribner both of Hampton and Jean Saunders of Saint John. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his only grandchild, Victoria Ejama Fordham-Mbajiorgu in 1992; one sister, Thelma Piers and two brothers, Bob and Maurice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). At his request there will be no visitation, a celebration of his life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. Private family interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Douglas may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church "Hope Mission Fund" at 211 Main St. Saint John, NB E2K 1H7.
