ALSTON, RITA JEAN - The death of Rita Jean Alston occurred peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday October 7, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1936 in St. Martins she was the daughter of James (Jim) Forret and the late Dorothy (Melvin) Forret. Jean worked for Eastern Paper, Bank of Nova Scotia and retired from the Saint John Regional Hospital in 2006. She enjoyed Bingo, Ceramics, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Besides her mother she was predeceased by her husband, George Hollis (Holly) Alston in 2005; brother, Allan Forret and sister, Anne Kimball. In addition to her father she is survived by her loving daughters, Lynn Doucette (Joe) of Saint John and Judy McGuire (Gerard) of Rothesay; grandchildren, Joseph Doucette, Andrew and John McGuire; sister, Linda Damon (Donald) of Quispamsis; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Following cremation, visitations will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday 7 to 9 pm and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Seaview Cemetery, Lorneville, NB.
