VANTASSEL, JOHN PATTERSON - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on October 14, 2009, Mr. John Patterson VanTassel of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born at Blacks Harbour, he was a son of Ina Caroline (Patterson) VanTassel and the late Joseph VanTassel. A loving father, son, grandfather and brother, he is survived by two daughters, Lori (Reggie) Hickey of St. Andrews NB and Lisa Farr of Pembrooke ON; two sons, Douglas VanTassell (Spring Travis) and Shane VanTassel both of Blacks Harbour; his mother, Ina VanTassel of L'Etang, NB; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Douglas (Shirley) VanTassel of Saint John NB and Donald VanTassel of St. Andrews; four sisters, Annabelle (Brian) Cook of L'Etang and Joan (Dwayne) Cook both of L'Etang, Faye (Wayne) Patterson of Beaver Harbour, NB and Lottie (Elmer) Cook of Pennfield NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by one daughter, Shannon. John was an animal lover and a very gifted artist. He enjoyed reading in his quiet time, especially Western novels. By John's request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am from the Christ Church (Anglican) at Pennfield NB with Rev. Keith Osborne officiating followed by interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In John's memory donations to the Charlotte County Hospital Palliative Care Unit or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
