APPLEBY, DORIS MARGARET - The death of Doris Margaret Appleby, age 98, wife of the late J. Shelton Appleby for 55 years, of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on Monday, October 26, 2009. She was born in Fredericton, on September 11, 1911, the daughter of the late Hosea and Ruby (Thorne) Fanjoy. Doris was a life long resident of Cambridge-Narrows and took an active interest in her community and church. She graduated from Provincial Normal School in 1930 and taught in several local schools. She was an active member of the First Cambridge Baptist Church where she was Clerk for 40 years. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, faithfully attended WMS, Bible Study and Sunday Services. Doris was a great flower and vegetable gardener and cook. She was known for sharing her produce with others. She will be remembered by family, friends and neighbours for the care and concern she showed through calls, cards and letters. Doris is survived by son, Carl and Violet Appleby of Cambridge-Narrows; daughter, Louise and Robert Fanjoy of Douglas; grandchildren, Kenneth and Cheri Appleby, Brenda and Gary Totten, Troy Appleby and Georgette, Brian Fanjoy, Thomas and Marilyn Fanjoy; great grandchildren, Katie Totten, Mitchell Totten and Tondi, Chelsea Appleby, Kyle Appleby, Laura Fanjoy and Benjamin Fanjoy; fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Don, Blake, Alden and Ralph; sister, Flora and step brothers, Paul and Ray Weed. She is resting at First Cambridge Baptist Church, MacDonald's Corner, NB, with visitation on Wednesday from 3 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Donations to First Cambridge Baptist Church or Cemetery, or the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
