MCGARRITY, REV. RICHARD A. SJ - passed away on October 26, 2009 at Milwaukee, WI. He was a son of Philip and Genevieve (Fitzsimmons) McGarrity of St. Stephen and was educated at local schools and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University. He moved to the United States and served honourably in the US Army. He entered religious life and the Jesuit order in 1960 and earned his Ph.D from Northwestern University. He was ordained on June 6, 1970 at Holy Rosary parish church in St. Stephen. He was professor and vice-president of Marquette University in Milwaukee for many years and was president of Jesuit Partners at the time of his passing. He is survived by his sister, Margaret McGarrity of St. Stephen, and his brother Allen McGarrity of River Glade and nieces and nephews. Pre- deceased by his parents and brothers, Philip, Maurice and Jerome and half brother, William Casey of Bar Harbor and sisters, Genevieve "Teenie" McGarrity and Patricia Brenan. Funeral Mass and interment will take place in Milwaukee on Saturday, October 31, 2009.
