GARNETT, BRUCE - Surrounded by his loving family, Bruce Melvin Garnett of Saint John passed away peacefully on November 12, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1948 in Saint John to the late LeRoy and Mary-Ann Rita (O'Dell) Garnett. Bruce was a Constable and member of the musical ride for the R.C.M.P. He also served as a member of Ports Canada, Industrial Security and Help For Taxes. Throughout his life he enjoyed carpentry, putting the projects of others before his own, which is reflected in his own renovations. Bruce was passionate and very competitive (cut-throat) when playing cards. Thursdays were the highlight of his week and the same for the others who were more than willing to sample his fine wines. Cards will never be the same. Bruce is survived by his children Amber Garnett and Bruce Garnett, Jr.; step- children Paul Frost, Jodi Giberson and Crystal Frost; two brothers Burchill Smith and Robert Garnett; three sisters Pam Penninger, Nancy White and Deborah Perry; sister-in-law Claire Garnett; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his brother Rick and brother-in-law Terry. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). At the family's request, a private ceremony is being held. Interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
