SHANKS, RUTH EILEEN - Ruth E. Shanks passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 30, 2009. She was the daughter of the late John and Lottie Shanks. Ruth spent all her life in Saint John. She was a member of the Carleton-Kirk United Church, Leader of the Mary Neal Unit UCW and a member of the Church Sessions. She is survived by her brother, Harold, of Saint John, NB and brother, Donald, of Dartmouth, NS. Ruth was predeceased by two sisters, Audrey Shanks and Edith Melvin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Marjorie (Clive) Parlee, Paula (Ronald) Henry, Joanne (Don) Eisener, Marilyn (Dean) Ross and Brian (Linda) Melvin. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 02, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 03, 2009 at 1:00 pm from Carleton-Kirk United Church. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. Donations, in memory of Ruth, may be made to the Carleton-Kirk United Church.
