VERNA V. WALL
WALL, VERNA V. - In her 101st year, Verna V. Wall of Lakewood Heights passed away peacefully on December 2, 2009 at Rocmaura Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born 1908 to the late Robert and Mary (Chase) Porter. Verna was member of St. Joachims Church and a chartered member of the St. Joachims CWL. She was a lector, a member of parish council and RCIA. During the Second World War Verna would leave her home and move thru the village as an Air Raid Warden. She received a certificate of appreciation from the Government of Canada for her volunteer work during the war. In recent years she enjoyed working in her gardens. Verna is survived by her three daughters Mrs. Ruth McNamara and Miss Joan H. Wall both of Saint John and Mrs. Barbara J. Mackin (Philip) of Truro, NS; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Verna was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Joseph H. Wall; sister Treva Strong Moore and several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. 646-2424 with visitation on Friday, December 4th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim's Catholic Church, 603 Loch Lomond Rd., Saint John on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at 10:00 am. Private family interment to take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
