The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Feb. 13, 2009, of Melvin George Dougay, Summerside, formally of Albany, age 75 years. Melvin was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Albany, son of the late Jerome (Jerry) Joseph and Veronica Mary (nee Bernard) Dougay. Beloved husband to Mary Anna (nee McMurrer) Dougay and loving father to Donna-Lee (Robert) Grant, New Glasgow, N.S., and Charlene (Milton) Costain of Summerside. Loving stepfather to Marilyn McAvinn, Albany, Judy (Joey) Richards, Summerside, Carl (Pam) McMurrer, Summerside, and Elizabeth (Blair) Conway, Bedeque. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, (favourite grandson Logan Costain) and many nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother, Joe (Tennie) Dougay, Albany, sister Myrtle (Doug) Preston, Brantford, Ont., sisters-in-law, Gladys Dougay, St. John, N.B., Laura Dougay, Kinkora, and Velda McMurrer, Albany. Predeceased by son-in-law, Amiel, Alyre, Johnny, Edward (Ned) (Marie) Dougay, sisters, Alice Dougay, Eva (Fred) Leard, Edna (Philip) Perry and brother-in-law, Lorne McMurrer. Remains resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora. No visiting hours or funeral service by personal request. Interment will take place later in St. Peter’s Church Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay.
