JAMES DANIEL GROODY

GROODY, JAMES DANIEL - Suddenly and unexpectedly in Bracebridge, Ontario on December 22, 2009, the world lost James Daniel Groody (Jamie) at the tender age of 24. James will be loved always and forever by his mother Susan Groody (nee Rigby), father Paul Groody (Twyla), sisters Jennifer Casu (Tony) and Kirsten Groody, half-sister Celia Groody, and grandmother Gladys Rigby. Jamie has joined his much loved Granddad Harry Rigby and Grandparents Bertha and Patrick Groody in heaven. From heaven we know he will be watching over his beloved nephews Harrison and Aidan Casu. James will never be forgotten by his many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. James - shy, funny, and special in so many ways - touched the lives of people wherever he went including friends in Kingston, Ontario and Saint John, New Brunswick. We have lost a compassionate soul whose idealism extended from social justice issues to a tenacious love of the Toronto Maple Leafs. James loved music. The guitar: his favorite instrument. In a world where feelings were not heard and talking could not provide for self-expression, music was his voice. Jamie, you are love, you are laughter, and you are sincerity. That most earnest of smiles, that most heartfelt of laughs, that imagination, that happily mischievous sparkle in your eyes. You are truth and authenticity, your understanding so deep. You could see the genuine through the not so worthy; you knew what truly mattered. You were appalled by unfairness, by hostility, by propaganda and by power misused. You saw a better world. You saw and acknowledged what most of us could not. You loved selflessly though you struggled to value yourself. We miss you. The family will receive friends at the WANNAMAKER-TIERNEY FUNERAL HOME, 123 Dundas Street West, Napanee (613-354-3341) on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 10:00 am, followed by Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 am Rev. Fergie Wilson officiating. Interment Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated by the family. Donations can be made in James's name to either the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health or to a special memorial fund that will be established in Jamie's memory.
