KIERSTEAD, MILDRED - Mrs. Mildred Irene Kierstead of Kiwanis Nursing Home formerly of Berwick passed away on January 18, 2010 at the age of 85. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Elizabeth (Jonah) Kierstead and the wife of the late Daryl Keirstead who passed away in 1993. Mildred is survived by her daughter Heather Steeves (Calvin Griffith) of Shepody, three sons: Paul (Heather) of Parlee Brook; Gordon (Sally) of Wards Creek; Bruce (Lucie Bourque) of Saint John; three sisters: Hazel Knowlton of Loch Lommond, Ruth Beshara (George), Pat Beshara (Ronald) all of Gondola Point, her sister-in-law: Janet Kierstead of Martinon; her brother-in-law Rev. Leslie Greer of Edmonton; her uncle Harold Jonah of Sussex, seven grandchildren: Laura Surrett (Mike), Brian Steeves (Karla Cooke), Justin Kierstead (Vicki), Jarred Kierstead (Kristy Waalderbos), Rylee, Madison and Michael Kierstead; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her brothers Leslie, Elmer and Richard Kierstead, and two sisters Lillian Brown and Norma Greer. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20 Ladies Auxiliary will hold a tribute Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm. A Celebration of Mildred's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00 am. The interment will take place at Wesley Union, Berwick in the spring.
