PETTIGREW, HELEN E. - The peaceful passing of Helen Pettigrew of Bloomfield, NB, wife of Ray E. Pettigrew occurred Monday, January 25th, 2010, at Kings Way Care Centre, where she received the best of love and care from all the staff, Quispamsis. Born in Saint John, NB, on January 27th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late George and Elsie (King) Durley. Helen was a devoted member of the Catholic Church for years before she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. She enjoyed crosswords and crocheting. Her cats were her companions, along with her husband and family. She resided in Bloomfield for years until she moved to Riverdale Manor, Hampton then moved to Kings Way Care Centre where she then passed away peacefully. Besides her husband, Ray, Helen is also survived by two daughters, Hannah Tays (Arnold), Bloomfield, Bonny Travis (Taze), Bloomfield; adopted son, Carl Chase (Heather), Bloomfield; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Donald and Ronald Jackson. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 28th, 2010 at Reid's Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Bloomfield. A reception will be held immediately following the interment at the home of Krissy Travis. Memorials may be made to Thyroid Research Fund.
