CUMMINGS, MEDLEY - The death of Joseph Medley Cummings, age 91, occurred at the Ridgewood Veteran's Wing, Saint John, NB, on January 29, 2010. He was born at Campbell Settlement, NB, the son of the late Michael and Catherine (McGinnis) Cummings. He served in the Canadian Arm Forces Air Force Division in Labrador until 1946, then he moved to the United States where he lived for over fifty years and worked for Gorham's Silver in Providence, Rhode Island until he retired. Medley belonged to the Quarter Century Club which he was very proud of. He moved back to Canada in 2003. Medley is survived by sons Peter Cummings and Paul and Naomi Cummings; two grandsons Caleb and Ethan all of Rhode Island; mother of his children Theresa Gillis- Cummings of Saint John, NB; sister Rita McLaughlin; brother Leslie Cummings; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Alice Carty, Agnes Carty, Elizabeth Ross, Lillian Hourihan, Lulu Hourihan, Ruby Hourihan and Bernice Cummings; brothers William, Clarence, Leo, Sterling and Howard. He is resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Sacred Heart Church, Norton, NB, at 11:00 am, on Monday, February 1, 2010. Interment will take place later in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
