Mr. Joseph V. MacDonald

Mr. Joseph V. MacDonald 1931-2002 Miramichi,NB - Mr. Joseph Vernon MacDonald, husband of Marion MacDonald of Elm Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Miramichi, on Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at the age of 71. Born in Bayside, he was the son of the late Mont and Hilda (MacLean) MacDonald. He was a former employee of the Dept. of Social Services at the former Chatham Rehab Center; a retired employee of N.B.C.C., Miramichi campus; an adherent of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi. Joe was very involved with the music business. He was founder and leader of the band "Black Diamond" for twenty years; a member of the Miramichi Fiddlers; a member of the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, the former Marion MacKnight; one daughter Cindy Lyons (Pat) of Miramichi; two sons, Walter (Rhonda) and Ricky (Kim), all of Miramichi; four sisters, Mrs. Elaine Schutt of Florida, USA, Mrs. Phyllis Ross of London, Ont., Mrs. Margaret McCormack (Ken) of Moncton, and Mrs. Rose Marie Atkinson (Dennis) of Belleville, Ont.; two brothers, Clyde (Marge) of Florida, USA and Elmer (Anna) of Miramichi; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Wayne. Resting at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St. By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church on Friday, May 8, 2002, conducted by Rev. Bill MacLeod. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated by the family.
