Father John Carlyle Trainor

Father John Carlyle, S.J.. At Rene Goupil House (The Jesuit Infirmary), Pickering, Ontario very peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Father John Trainor was in his 76th year of life and his 55th in religious life. Besides his Jesuit brothers across Canada and a wide circle of friends and colleagues, he leaves to mourn a large extended family, in particular his sister, Sr. Elizabeth Trainor, S.C. (NS) and George Michael Trainor (P.E.I.). He is predeceased by his brothers Louis, Wilfred, Fr. Emmett Trainor, S.J., Fr. Lorne Trainor, S.J. and by his sisters Mrs. Anna Hackey, Sr. Teresa Trainor, CSM, Mrs. Una Flood, Mrs. Mary Creamer and Bernadette. Father Trainor spent many years in high school teaching and administration. For twenty years her directed the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in the Diocese of Halifax, until health complications brought him to the Jesuit Retirement Home, Rene Goupil House, in Pickering, ON. Friends may call at the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel, 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) Toronto, ON on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and the St. Ignatius (Manresa) Chapel in Pickering from 7-9 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Chapel, Manresa-Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre, Liverpool Road North, Pickering, ON. Burial to follow at 3 p.m. in the Jesuit Cemetery in Guelph, ON. In memory of Father Trainor, donations may be made to the Jesuit Development Office, 1325 Bay Street, Toronto, ON. M5R 2C4.
