Emily Magdalene Whitter of Prince Albert passed away safely into the arms of Jesus on February 10, 2009 at the Herb Bassett Home. She was born July 9, 1909 at Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, moved to a homestead in Sturgeon Valley as a small child, then to Holbein, SK with her family and finally settled in Prince Albert in 1931, 78 years ago. She is survived by her loving sons John and Larry Whitter and their families including seven grandchildren and many beloved great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a few dear friends from the Alliance Church. Emily was predeceased by her husband John Whitter; three infant sons; her parents Arthur and Sadie Cowles; her brother Clair (Maude) Cowles and two sisters Alice (George) Whitter and Inez (Doug) Clunie. She was an excellent bookkeeper by trade, at many family businesses including Whitter Motors. She lived a simple life and was deeply devoted to her Lord and all family members. The memory of her life will be lovingly remembered and treasured by all. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 - 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Ron Goerzen and Pastor Ernest Regier officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, 301 - 2550 - 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. The family wishes to give an extra thank you for the tremendous care and compassion mom received at the Herb Bassett Home, especially the staff at Golden Hills during her lengthy stay.
