Frances Esther Hirtle

Frances Esther Hirtle 1919-2002 SACKVILLE, NB - Frances E. Hirtle, age 83 of Three Hills, Alberta and formerly a resident of Sackville, NB, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born on February 12, 1919 in Kingston, NS, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Mabel (Phinney) Stevens. Frances graduated from grade eleven at Kingston High School in 1933 at the age of fourteen years. She went on to graduate from grade twelve at Bloomfield High School in Halifax in 1935 and attended Maritime Business College, graduating in 1936 where she earned top marks in her class. Frances went on to work in Halifax from 1936 - 1944 and from 1944-1946 she completed her RN training at Victoria General Hospital, from where she graduated, achieving the highest marks in Nova Scotia. She was married on September 2, 1946 to Waldo E. Hirtle. She had lived in Three hills AB, since 1980, where she worked as a library assistant. She is survived by two sons Jim (Janet) Hirtle currently of South Korea and Bill (Jan) Hirtle of Peace River, Alberta; two daughters Sharon (Paul) Britton of Halifax, NS and Wanda (George) Evans of Cole Harbour, NS; one sister Thelma (Jim) Pepper of Saskatoon, Sask; 13 grandchildren Matthew and David Hirtle, Christopher, Elizabeth (Frost) Timothy and Jeremy Britton; Lee, Aaron and Robbie Evans; Kristen, Aimee, Stephen and Joanna Hirtle. She was predeceased by her husband Waldo Hirtle in 1971; one brother Jack Stevens in 2001; one sister Phyllis. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (364-8188). Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held from the Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville, NB on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at 3pm with Pastor Carl Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. A reception will be held at Campbell's Funeral Home following the interment with the refreshments provided by ladies of the Main Street Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances' memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Gideon Bibles or to the Church or Mission of your choice.
