Graham: Martha Hazel, of Great Village, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at home, surrounded by her family, in her 104th year. Born in Great Village she was a daughter of the late David Edgar and Ethel (Keith) Graham. Martha had a long and varied career and retired from the Department of National Defense in 1970. She is survived by brother, Edgar; nephews, Keith (Mary), Cortland (Anne), Wayne (Norma); nieces, Carol Hann (Gord), Lynn Wolf (John), Betty-Jean Graham; niece-in-law, Darlene Graham; 18 great nieces and nephews; 32 great-great nieces and nephews; 1 great-great-great niece. She was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Earle and Frederick; sisters, Achsah Drake, Mary Graham, Margaret Muise and Sylvia McCann; nephew, David Graham. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. today and funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, all in the Royal Canadian Legion, Great Village, with Rev. Don MacQueen officiating. Interment to be held at a later date in the Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the St. James United Church, Great Village, or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. The family would like to express many thanks to Martha’s caregivers and neighbors for all their many acts of love and compassionate care given to Martha.
