Rev. Oswald Porelle

Rev. Oswald Porelle SHEDIAC, NB - Rev. Oswald Porelle, 86, of Riverside Dr., Shediac passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born July 10, 1916 in Cap-Pelé, he was the son of the late Georges and Judith (Cormier) Porelle. He persued his studies at l'Université Saint-Joseph (Humanity and Philosophy) and l'Université Laval, Québec (Theology). He was ordained on May 4th, 1943 in CapPelé by Most Rev. Norbert Robichaud, Archbishop of Moncton. He served as Curate in Shediac from 1943 - 1944, in Saint-Louis-de-Kent from 1944 - 1945, in Dieppe and Moncton in 1945. He was appointed Pastor in Pointe-Sapin in 1951, Pastor in Acadieville in 1955, Pastor in Baie-Sainte-Anne in 1960, Pastor in Shediac from 1965 - 1975 and Pastor in Shemogue from 1975 - 1981. He retired November 5, 1981. He is survived by five sisters, Evelyn Burns of Salem, Mass., Céline Swantee of Florida, Lucille Goguen of CapPelé, Anna LeBlanc of Ste. Foy, QC., Georgette Bellehumeur (Raymond) of Belleoeil, QC.; two brothers: Françis (Tamara) of Grande-Digue, Valérie of Montréal, QC. and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Dosithé and one sister Carmen O'Blenis. Remains resting at Saint-Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Shediac on Thursday from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m., Friday at Sainte-Thérèse d'Avila Roman Catholic Church in Cap-Pelé from 2 to 4p.m. and 7 to 9p.m. and Saturday from 10a.m. until time of funeral. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Sainte-Thérèse d'Avila Roman Catholic Church in Cap-Pelé. Interment in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Frenette Funeral Home Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297).
