Hugh Byron Munro 1935 - 2003 ELGIN, NB - Hugh Byron Munro of Elgin passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at The Moncton Hospital, after a brief illness with cancer. He was born April 26, 1935 in Pictou, NS. He retired in 1994 from Transport Canada as the safety director for the maritime region. He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge no. 32 F&AM in Campbellton, a member of Steven Lodge no. 37 F&AM in Petitcodiac, a 32nd degree member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, a member of The Luxor Temple A.A.O.N.M.F. Past president of Luxor Temples past masters unit and past president of the Moncton Shrine Club. He was an active member and director of the Petitcodiac Valley Golf and Country Club, a member of St. James United Church in Petitcodiac where he served as an elder and clerk of session. He is survived by his wife Katherine DeBow Martin; his mother, Marcella (Dickson) Munro Robertson of Lyons Brook, NS; three daughters, Patricia Corbett (Ed) of Burlington, ON, Pauline Armour (Jeff) of Smithville. ON, Kate Delaney (Brian) of Halifax; three sons, Hugh (Joanne) of Mississauga, Joseph (Thelma), Douglas (Julie) both of Moncton; a brother, Doug Munro (Sandi) of Fredericton; a step-son, Bradley Martin; step brother, Jack Robertson, Lyons Brook, NS; step sister, Charlotte Mills, Victoria, BC; his grandchildren, Byron, Patrick and Liam Corbett, MacLeod Munro, Marlee and Haley Armour, Dylan, Kian and Erin Delaney and Jamie Corey. He is also survived by Moya Munro of Moncton. He was predeceased by his father Hugh Munro; his step-father John Robertson; and a brother Larry. Visiting hours will be held from Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Steven Lodge No. 37 F&AM will hold a Masonic Service Saturday at 6:45 pm from the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held from St. James United Church, Petitcodiac on Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Charlotte Youland officiating. The interment will be in Gladestone Cemetery, Six Mile Brook, NS at a later date.
