Harry D. Watling
Harry D. Watling 1920-2003 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. Harry Donald Watling, husband of Barbara Watling, of Black River Bridge, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the age of 82. Born in Black River Bridge, he was the son of the late James T. D. and Ruth (Ullock) Watling. He was a retired employee of the Dept. of National Defense, at the former CFB Chatham, employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of St. Stephens United Church, Black River Bridge; a former member of Session and Elder; a former Clerk of Session; an Honorary Elder; a former Secretary Treasurer of the Black River Cemetery Committee; a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Canadian Army, Ordence Corps. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Green; five daughters, Donna Walker (Allen), of Niagara Falls, Ont., Leah Conroy (Roger), of Black River Bridge, Dorothy Watling, of Kitchener, Ont., Sherry Beach, of Edmonton, Alta., and Janet Watling, of Black River Bridge; four sons, Bliss Watling (Dorothy), of Edmonton, Alta., Harry Watling Jr. (Chris), of Niagara Falls, Ont., David Watling (Elizabeth), of Miramichi, and Keith Watling (Janice), of Mississauga, Ont.; six sisters, Lorna MacKenzie, of Napan, Ruby MacInnis (Leigh), of Napan Bay, Leona Fitzpatrick (James), of Miramichi, Hazel Williston, of New Hamburg, Ont., and Margaret Medwin, of Kitchener, Ont.; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine MacNaughton; two great grandchildren; three brothers, Eldon, Byron and Arnold Watling. Visitation will be held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Friday evening, from 7-9 pm, and Saturday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Stephens United Church, on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at 3 pm, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. Please note, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday evening, at 7:30 pm, for a Veteran Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Extra Mural Nursing Program, the Palliative Care Unit, of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, or any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
