Linkletter, Maurice Salter - 89, Pictou, passed away February 20, 2009 in the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou. Born in Collingwood, he was the only child of the late Alexander and Sabrina (Baker) Linkletter. Maurice served in the Canadian Army overseas during the Second World War, where he met his wife, Johanna (Anne) Bourgonje. Following the war, he was employed by Provincial Drugs/Eastern Drugs, Halifax and upon retiring he became a fisherman. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Masonic Fraternity. He and Johanna spent many years in East Petpeswick, on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. Maurice had a great love for music and playing cards. He is survived by daughter, Jennifer (Charles) Brunet, Hillcrest Mines, Alberta; sons, Donald (Anita), Truro, Arthur (Nancy-Lee), Moncton, NB; Maurice (Nancy), Ingleside, Ont.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Johanna of 58 years. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 23rd from 7-9 pm with a Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #26 Tribute Service at 6:45 pm; Memorial service on Tuesday, Feb. 24th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maritime Oddfellows Home, Pictou where he was treated with great care, respect and kindness.
