Elena (Garland) Johnson
Elena (Garland) Johnson LONDON, ON - Elena Johnson passed away suddenly at the Dearness Nursing Home, London, ON. Born June 6, 1919 in Chipman, NB, she was the eldest daughter of the late Warnock and Annie (MacIver) Garland. She graduated from Moncton High School and for several years worked in the T. Eaton Co., Moncton, NB. She joined the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service during the 2nd World War - 1944. Upon discharge, she went to Hampton Bible School to study to become a Missionary. She married Charlie "Chuck" Johnson at the Bible School. He studied as well for Missionary work. They moved to London, ON to prepare for missionary work, going to Bolivia, South America. Upon returning to Canada, they became representatives of the Canadian New Tribes Mission. She leaves to mourn her husband "Chuck" of 56 years; four children, Ann , Smithboro, ILL, Paul (Robin) South Carolina, Jonathan, Florida, and Bonita Van den Berg (Jon), Mexico; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and her only sister, Ferne Stonham of River Glade, NB. Her four brothers predeceased her, Charlie, Willie, Neil and Edmund. Funeral arrangements not completed. She will be buried in London, ON.
