Victor E. Bowlby

Victor E. Bowlby 1916 - 2003 Victor E. Bowlby, age 87, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 21, 2003 in the presence of his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Victor was born March 14, 1916 in Amherst, NS., the son of the late Victor E. (Sr.) and Jennie (Donaghy) Bowlby. He had worked for Canada Post as a letter carrier, railway mail clerk and supervisor with 38 years service prior to his retirement. Vic was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather who focused primarily on his family. He was an avid hockey fan, loved gardening and music. Vic had a terrific sense of humor that bolstered his spirits and those of his family right to the end. Vic will be sadly missed by his daughters, Joan Bishop (David) of Inverness, Flordia. Vickie Fowler (Carl) of Moncton; four grandchildren, Deborah Kane (Gerard), Stephen Bishop (Sheila) of New Hampshire, Aaron Fowler of Ottawa and Shelley Hopper (Jeffrey) of Moncton; four great grandchildren, Joshua and James Kane, Rachael and Nathan Bishop; one sister Frances Kelly of Moncton and sister-in-law; Mildred Layton of Lower Coverdale. He was predeceased by his wife Sarah Eliza (Woodworth) Bowlby in November 2002 and by a brother Garnet Bowlby. The family will receive relatives and friends at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home 171 Lutz St. Moncton on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kenneth Alcorn officiating. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Flowers graciously received, however those wishing to place memorials, donations may be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital "Extra Mural" or to the charity of the donor's choice in Victor's memory would be appreciated.
