Violet May Coates-Smith
(nee Codner) Passed peacefully away at the St. Jude's Anglican Home in Vancouver on August 1, 2008, aged 87 years. Primarily a homemaker, Violet also worked as a receptionist, a telephone operator, a personal care worker, and had been a Sergeant in the Canadian Army Militia in St. John's. She is predeceased by her son Ricky Coates. Leaving to mourn sons: Marvin Coates (B.C.) and Robert Coates (Helen, B.C.); daughter Phyllis French (Garry); brother Hubert Codner (Ont.); sisters: Olive Roberts (Ont.) and Eleanor Tilley (Kelligrews); grandchildren: Christopher French (Sarah), Shari Langrall (Michael, Va. USA), Taylor French (Dawn), Natalie French (Australia), Adam Coates (B.C.), Jason Coates (Ont.), David Coates (B.C.) and Lauren Coates (B.C.); great-grandchildren: Shayna Langrall, Cody, Langrall, Hannah French, Nathan French and Sasha French.
