Gerald Joseph Walton
Gerald Joseph Walton 1921 - 2003 It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the death of Gerald J. Walton, at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, September 21, 2003, at the age of 82 years. Gerald served during the second world war from 1941 to 1946, before moving his young family to Sudbury, ON. He worked at I.N.C.O. from 19511966, and went on to manage the United Steelworkers Centre in Sudbury until his retirement in 1981, at which time he and his wife Cecilia moved back to New Brunswick. Gerald was a longtime member in the Knights of Columbus and an active tenor with the Moncton Barbershop Singers until last year. His love of music was a constant force in his life and a lasting gift to all his children. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Cecilia (LeBlanc) of Foundry Place, Moncton, his only daughter Agnes (Colin) Rowe of Bowmanville, ON, his sons Jack of Gravelbourg, Sask, Michael of Burnaby, BC, Gerard of Royston, BC, and Paul (Kathryn) of Canmore, Alta, nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his sister Mrs. Florence (Hughie) Reardon of Moncton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his eldest son David, sister Mrs. Mary Butcher (late Sidney) and brother Charles. Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St. on Thursday September 25, 2003 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm The funeral mass will be held at St. Bernards Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 26, 2003 at 11 am with Father Peter McKee Officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Palliative care unit, The NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated by his family.
