The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, as the result of a snowmobile accident, on Saturday, February 21, 2009, of Alan MacQuarrie of Winsloe, age 33. Alan was the beloved son of David MacQuarrie (Clara) and Sylvia MacQuarrie (Lester Huggan). He was the brother of Lori Toombs (Brian) and uncle of Dawson and Briann Toombs. Alan is survived by his grandparents, Raymond and Florence MacQuarrie and Louise Rafuse; stepsisters, Janice Vandaele (Marc) and Juanita Acorn (Alan); and special friend, Christa Ellis. He is also survived by his aunts, Margaret Gallant, Lillian Mead, Ethel Gillis (Don), Ida MacDonald (Kevin), Norma MacQuarrie (Joey), Gail Chandler, Patsy Matheson (Allan), Anita Naves (Bob); and uncles, Gerold MacQuarrie (Nancy), Glen MacQuarrrie, John Aten, Junior Rafuse and Harold Axworthy; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Earl Rafuse; his aunts, Linda Axworthy, Arlene MacQuarrie and Eleanor Aten; and his uncles, Lawrence Gallant and Jimmy Chandler. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, February 24, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Central Queen’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 25, at 2 p.m. Interment in North Winsloe Cemetery.
