Evelyn Gertrude Hickox of Amherst passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Tracey) Trenholm. Evelyn was born and spent her entire life in Amherst. She was a founding member of the Golden Years Society where she was until becoming ill very much involved. Evelyn spent many years in the grocery and meat business with her late husband Roland. She had many passions including music, which she passed on to three generations of her family. Evelyn loved flowers, bird watching, baking and had a passion for life. We have lost a much loved treasure whose memory will live on in us all. Surviving is her son Ivan and his wife Carmel (Legere) with whom she made her home, four grandchildren Cynthia Lidster of Michigan, Christine Hichox of Moncton, Stephen Hickox of Ontario and Eddie Johnson of Amherst, two step grandchildren Mike and Di Legere, six great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, a very special great niece Trudy Brown and several other nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Roland, two brothers Ivan and Harold and one sister Dorothy Simpson. As per her request her remains have been cremated. There will be no visitation or service at this time. A private graveside service will be held in the spring where she will be laid to rest in the family lot. Donations in her memory may be made to the VON, Canadian Red Cross or the LA Animal Shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst. www.campbells-amherst.ca
