Gordon D. MacDonald, of Sackville
Gordon D. MacDonald SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Gordon D. MacDonald, of Sackville, occurred in the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 87 on Tuesday, November 25, 2003 after a short illness. Born in Haliburton, PEI, he was a son of the late Alex and Millicent (Frost) MacDonald. A veteran of World War II he served with the Canadian Army. He was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, a member of the Sackville United Church where he was also custodian for 22 years. He was custodian at Mount Allison University for over 30 years. He will be sadly missed by his son Blair (Marilyn), Sackville and his daughter, Sandra MacDonald, Sackville; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his son Richard (Dick) and his nine brothers and sisters. Remains have been forwarded for cremation. Visiting hours will take place on Friday, November 28 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300). A memorial service will be held from the Sackville United Church on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 2 pm, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton and Rev. Hazen Ricker officiating. Burial to follow in the Sackville Cemetery. Members of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a Legion Service of Remembrance on Friday at 7:30 pm.
