Janis E. Christie TORONTO, ON - Janis Elaine Christie, 50, of Toronto and formerly of Moncton passed away peacefully on Friday December 5, 2003 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton Sept 21, 1953 she was the daughter of Gordon and Treva (Trites) Christie of Indian Mountain. The Personal Insurance Co. of Mississauga employed Janis for the past 16 years. Janis was a past member of Volunteer Etobicoke where she worked with troubled youth. During her short life she entertained many children as a clown. Surviving besides her parents is her loving husband John Ferguson of Toronto; sisters, Judy Renton (Harvey) of Wheaton Settlement, Darby Welner (Dean) of Moncton, Lana Godin (Zoel) of Indian Mountain; brothers Daniel Christie (Chris), David Christie (Sherry) of Indian Mountain; many nieces and nephews. Janis will also be sadly missed by her stepdaughter Christina Pearson of Belleville On. as well as her sister and brother in-law Andrew and Marlene Ferguson and family of Richmond Hill On., Jim and Heli Ferguson and family of Victoria BC and Dan and Akiko Ferguson and family of Vancouver BC. She leaves many friends in Canada and Europe. Predeceased by a brother Bill formerly of Indian Mountain. In Keeping with Janis' wishes there will be no visiting hours. Funeral service will be held from the Lutes Mountain Church of the Nazarene, corner Briggs Cross Road and Rt. 126 on Tuesday December 9 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dale Thistle and Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Interment will be at the Stilesville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Oncology Center of the Georges L. Dumont Hospital would be appreciated.
