Stephen Vasseur Sr. 1914 - 2003 "No father was better to his family" Stephen Harold Vasseur, 88, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, December 8, 2003. Born in Grandfalls, NB on December 18, 1914 he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Mallen) Vasseur. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa (McManaman) in 1999. He was a war veteran and retired from the Royal Canadian Air Force as a chief Warren officer. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. He will be deeply missed by his only son Stephen Vasseur (Catherine nee Poirier) of Moncton, NB; three grandsons Joseph (Sonia nee LeBlanc) of Dieppe, Jason of Halifax, NS, and Joshua of Moncton; two great grandsons Nicholas and Tyler of Diepp; two sisters Isabelle Sirois of Montreal and Connie Desjardin of Ontario; also by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by sisters Carrie, Sadie, Pearl and Rachel, and brothers Jessie, Wilmot, Thomas, and Francis. The care and comfort given to him by the staff of the surgical intensive care a the Moncton Hospital was greatly appreciated by the family. In keeping with his wishes no visitation will be held. The funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Riverview on Thursday December 11, 2003 at 2:00pm with father Jeff Doucette officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the church hall. In Stephens memory, because he was so giving to people in need, the family would appreciate all donations being made to a charity to benefit the needy people of our Moncton area.
