Olive Mae Beaton, a resident of the Cove Guest Home, formerly of 111 George St., Sydney, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009.
Olive was born in Sydney, daughter of the late Alice (Beaton) and John Alexander MacLean.
She was retired from the Attorney General’s Department, having been employed as secretary in the Provincial Judge’s office, Sydney.
Olive was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, former choir member and occasional supply church organist and was a member of Beinn Bhreagh Chapter IODE and the MacLean Clan Association. In former years, she was involved in community affairs and musical activities
Survived by two sons, Glenn Arnold (Anne), Ottawa and G. Wayne (Carol), Ben Eoin; grandchildren, Joanne, Donna, Meaghan and Michael.
Predeceased by her husband, Gordon L.; brother, Alistar and sister, Emma MacDonald.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating. Interment will take place in Upper Leitches Cemetery at a later date.
